Achieved

The project for the New Milan Fair stretches over approximately 70 hectares, 50 of which are covered. It is arranged lengthwise and placed along an east-west axis. It features a central distribution area which provides access to the eight exhibition pavillions situated on each side. The two main entrances are located at both ends of the system. The service center, which houses the main reception, the congress center and the main offices of the fair, is a pivotal element placed at the center of the layout. It also constitutes the core of the whole system, leading ideally towards the public park of Pero Municipality over the large expanse of water.

There are six one-level pavillions and two two-level pavillions. The longitudinal axis represents both the functional and formal link of the new fair: it allows the public to circulate on foot and connects the various exhibition areas. It is arranged on two levels, the higher of which (+ 6 meters) acts as an access point for those visitors without a ticket who, upon reaching the level of the selected exhibition pavillion, are able to descend the stairs and buy a ticket. Acess to the ground floor is reserved to those visitors who have purchased a ticket and can circulate freely. The central distribution area is like a large urban arcade covered by aluminium and glass roof which gradually moulds to fit the various structures, thus creating an urban landscape. It is both symbolic and emotional, practically the logo of the New Milan Fair.
